From 28 February to 2 March 2025, Sambandha Nepal successfully organized a three-day Investigative Journalism Training in Birendranagar, Surkhet, in collaboration with FNJ Karnali and with support from EU / International Alert.
The training gathered 24 journalists representing all 10 districts of Karnali Province, aiming to strengthen their investigative reporting skills and enhance their capacity to produce fact-based, ethical, and impactful journalism that serves the public interest.
Training Highlights:
โข Sessions on investigative techniques, RTI, Language, ethical storytelling, and source verification.
โข Practical exercises to develop investigative story ideas on RTI, governance, accountability, and social justice issues in Karnali.
โข Knowledge sharing on navigating digital threats and ensuring journalist safety while reporting sensitive issues.
โข Special guest appearances from Hon. Ghanshyam Bhandari, Social Development Minister, Karnali Province, who graced both the opening and closing ceremonies, encouraging participants to pursue truth with courage and uphold media integrity.
โข This training reflects the collaborative commitment of Sambandha Nepal, FNJ Karnali, EU, and International Alert to empower local journalists, promote fact-based storytelling, and foster accountability journalism in Karnali Province.
